Vented tumble dryers have a flexible hose that is normally fixed into a vent through an outside wall which takes the warm moist air out of your house, they are also a popular option with customers wishing to put a dryer in a garage.

Condenser dryers are increasing in popularity every year as they can be used anywhere in the home that has a plug socket. They do not need a vent as the warm moist air from the drying process is converted back into liquid water by the condenser unit and then stored in a reservoir ready to be emptied. Most condenser dryers have easy to empty water containers at the top of the machine and a light that shows when to empty it, some models even have the container in the door so you can see clearly when it needs emptying.

There is a third kind of dryer which is really a kind of condenser dryer, the heat pump dryer. These are the most energy efficient type of dryer and some boast A++ energy efficiency ratings and depending on how much you use your dryer they can save you a considerable amount on running costs over its life. As with the condenser dryer you don't need a vent so they can be installed anywhere with a plug socket.
